A family full of energy: North Canterbury Energy Centre
Rarely has the expression ‘It’s all in the family’ been truer than with the Brown family of North Canterbury Energy Centre.
Together, Tracey Brown, his wife Joanne, sons Joshua and Jarrad and daughters Hollie and Zoe work towards the common goal of designing, supplying, installing and servicing an extensive range of refrigeration, heat pumps and ventilation for their clients throughout North Canterbury and Kaikoura.
“With so much family involvement over many years, we are pretty unusual in the energy field,” says operations manager Hollie. “Our strong relationship translates easily into developing genuine lasting relationships with clients. We treat them as part of our family as well. What is important for us is developing the right bespoke energy solution for every client, whether it’s a domestic or a commercial situation.”
Each member of the Brown family has their own specialist area. Patriarch Tracey is a refrigeration engineer with some 40 years’ experience. Joshua has followed in his father’s engineering footsteps, while Jarrad is a heat pump technician and a whiz at computer designing heating systems. Operations manager Hollie directs the office with moral support from mum Joanne and Zoe oversees the recycling and communications aspects of the operation.
“No-one just expected us to come into the business. We made our own choices, but we are all now dedicated to our roles and love being in the industry because we are helping to improve people’s lifestyles. This is our future too and North Canterbury Energy Centre will always remain a family affair.”
