Styled two ways

Rules often go out the door when it comes to decorating your home. By Zoe Fenton.

Go bold with maximalist décor, colours and patterns galore, or stay humble with a minimalist, neutral style. One whispers simplicity, the other shouts extravagance. You certainly can be one or the other – or the rooms in your home can be.

Stay simplistic
A minimalistic living space is clean, put-together and timeless. With a neutral palette, minimalists value cleanliness and functionality over colour and personality. Stylish storage allows your space to remain neat, utilised in a way that keeps surfaces clear and spaces clutter-free. Calming and with easy maintenance, minimalism in interior design soothes, promoting mental clarity.

Be bold
Fill your living space with colours, patterns, and textures. With statement pieces and flamboyant patterns, maximalists believe more is more. Take a coloured couch, think red, green or blue, and compliment it alongside some contrasting cushions – orange or peach. Don’t be afraid to inject references, such as bygones or memories of things you love.
