“I’ve always been passionate about nail art,” says Zara Spiers, owner of Zara’s Beauty Room in Spreydon. “For me, nails are a mini canvas, and I love turning them into something beautiful. It’s important because our hands are one of the first things people notice. Nails will make or break a whole look.”
A professional nail artist for more than four years before opening her own nail salon, Zara worked for Bhava Nails in Merivale Mall. “For Cup and Show Week, I was the one that clients would always request to do their nails because I was known for my nail art skills,” she says. “I do it all, plain colours, bright colours, chrome finish, intricate patterns, embellishment with gemstones, hard gel, soft gel, and more.”
If there is ever a time to try something new with your nails, Cup and Show Week is the perfect excuse, says Zara. “The best time to get your nails done is a week before the event. At this time of year, I’d recommend booking to avoid disappointment; nail salons can be very busy for the racing season.”
