Spring fashion, Spanish feast: The Curators House
While Spanish fashion houses deserve a spot in your wardrobe, Spanish cuisine deserves a place on your plate. Here’s where dining meets the moment when celebrating the Christchurch Spring Fashion Festival and beyond.
Vibrant maximalism, bright colours, and coveted brands like Loewe and Manolo Blahnik, Spanish restaurant The Curator’s House is home to flavours just as rich as its stylish heritage.
A new spring menu, designed to be devoured amongst the spring blooms surrounding the Botanic Gardens-setting, complements the arrival of Christchurch’s annual fashion festival.
“Flavours, as always, come from our two passions: our fruit and vegetable garden, and our Spanish heritage,” Chef Victoria ‘Vikki’ Liptrot says of the spring menu. “Fresh garden herbs, zingy citrus elements… We’ve introduced dishes like a cured duck breast with a grapefruit and confit fennel salad, using a nose-to-tail approach,” Vikki says. “Plus a special Akaroa Salmon crudo bursting with passionfruit and lime flavours, alongside our Hapuku crudo with pernod and chervil.”

Spanish dishes delight, from boquerones (white marinated anchovy on crostini with roasted red capsicum) to jamón serrano on toasted Grizzly sourdough with a tomato olive oil drizzle.
Extending to the drinks menu, spring spritzes arrive with combinations like lime leaf and jasmine, rosemary bramble, a chef’s own elderflower hugo, staff favourite grapefruit and basil leaf paloma, and a Agua de Valencia orange – a refreshing cross between a sangria and mimosa.
Spain does food as well as it does fashion, so book your spot at The Curator’s House during the Christchurch Spring Fashion Festival and throughout the season.
