Home trade experts: Clyne & Bennie

Unexpected power outages, plumbing and gas leaks, and overflowing drains need to be sorted out fast and efficiently, which is why it is comforting to know that there is only one name you need on speed dial.

Canterbury’s own Clyne and Bennie is a trusted brand that has been delivering great service at a fair price for 65 plus years, and they have expanded to cover all of the key facilities that keep your home running. To their original plumbing and drainlaying services, the team have added gasfitting, electrical, and heating services and supply. They even offer 24-hour cover for plumbing emergencies.

“Over the years we have built a large customer base that is loyal to our brand, and while the economy is driving lower rates of new builds, our repairs and maintenance practice is expanding quickly, largely through word of mouth,” says Company Director Martin De Gouw (pictured right), “we are still working on plenty of earthquake damaged homes, and love to do new builds and early engagement that starts with design, through to build and hydraulic services.

Sustainability and energy efficiency are a focus, “we are dedicated to providing sustainable solutions to make homes smarter and more energy efficient. We strive to keep up with the latest technologies so we can provide up to date product knowledge,” says Martin.
The team comprises more than 70 staff in repairs and maintenance. Electrical work was added to the portfolio five years ago, and Heating On Time joined the line-up last year.

In-home and commercial heating, the crew are equipped to cover gas heating, solid fuel, and heat pump supply and installation. “Our brands are Rinnai where we work across gas and air conditioning, Masport and Woodsman for log burners, and Fujitsu, Toshiba, and Mitsubishi in heat pumps and air conditioning,” says Martin.

With branches in Christchurch, North Canterbury, and Nelson, rural commercial and residential clients are well served. They offer water tank and pump repair and installation, water filtration, as well as the supply of plumbing equipment.

“Our goal is to be the first choice for customers for all the services we offer, because of the quality of our work and our pricing,” Martin adds. The heating sector of the business is a focal point for growth now, “we are always interested in employing keen staff that want to work for a great brand.”
