A boutique early learning centre in Timaru where qualified teachers, small group learning and creative play supports children to learn and thrive.
A cosy early learning centre in Timaru that feels like a home away from home, Parkside Grove has a ratio of 1:8 and 100 per cent qualified teachers. “Our philosophy of ‘where little seeds blossom and possibilities take flight’ is grounded in partnerships with our whānau and community, and performing arts as a medium for learning through which tamariki can explore, communicate, understand and learn,” says owner Juanita Cootes.
Run by Te Waipounamu Education, the boutique setting allows teachers to build meaningful relationships with each child, supporting their individual interests and development through play.
“We’re set next to a park that we’re able to frequently visit,” says Juanita. “We have a really strong performing arts programme here where children can explore all things music and movement related, as well as express themselves through drama and art.”
Juanita created Te Waipounamu Education after working for 20 years in early childhood education. They now have 10 preschools across the South Island. “It has been an absolute dream come true,” she says. “It’s fantastic being able to network, support each other, do shared professional development and parent events together, and learn from each other.” Parkside Grove run regular events and concerts, check out some of the fun on their Facebook page.
