Views and venues: Harbour House

The view is unsurpassed. The food makes innovative use of ingredients, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Harbour House Cafe is at the heart of Governors Bay, a fun place to gather and bring the community together.

“But it’s more than that,” says owner Nic Graham. “It’s a destination. Once you drive over the hill or through the tunnel and have Lyttelton Harbour as a backdrop, it is as if you are in a different world.”

What more spectacular setting for a family brunch, an intimate dinner or a bigger celebration. “We can cater for all kinds of functions. Recently our Europe-trained chef Verdi Malik created special food for a totally vegan birthday. We make superb hors d’oeuvres for drinks functions and with the versatility of our indoor spaces, we can have fully seated or buffet events.”

But you can experience the delicious food at the cafe at any time of the day – for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its eggs Benedict is famous – deservedly so with the cafe’s smoky butter hollandaise and house-made potato rosti. Equally tempting are the chicken waffles and the delicious array of tapas.

“We are very proud of our food and of our team’s focus on service. Come and give us a try.”
