A winter love story: The Dish



We may well be looking forward to putting winter behind us, but let’s face it, Canterbury can still experience chilly weather right up to, and into, spring. That means food that warms, nourishes and feeds the soul is as necessary as that snuggly scarf and overcoat we can’t imagine being without.

Asian fusion restaurant The Dish provides the perfect solution to winter weariness. The physical space of this eatery is Oriental décor at its most ambient; the cares of the day slip away as welcoming wait staff look after patrons’ needs with a warm efficiency and meticulous attention to detail.

The menu caters to every palate and dietary requirement, including gluten free. Favourites in chilly weather are the tender and succulent beef cheek Massaman curry, served with mashed kumara and roti chips; the wok fried Angus beef cubes with black pepper and garlic, mushroom and green beans, and the lamb shank aromatic curry with roasted curry and kumara chips.

For devotees of pork, the twice cooked, wok-fried pork belly with spicy herbs, Sichuan peppercorns and beans will see you replenished and nearly repleted. Finish with something yummy from the Temptation Desserts, and yes, you’ll be right back in love with winter!
