Uniquely crafted furniture: Arthur Nellie
From an old shearing shed to a purpose-built facility and showroom, and with over 80 years of combined experience, the team at Ohoka-based upholstery business Arthur-Nellie design and build furniture, restore family heirlooms, and help match furniture to your space.
One of the best parts of the job, says Arthur-Nellie co-owner Kent McCreanor, is seeing the clients’ faces when they pick up a restored piece of furniture. “We take something from looking like it should be sent to the dump to seeing it fixed up and repaired to its former glory,” he explains. “Customers are surprised at how good the item looks when it’s finished.”
Established in 2010 from a shearing shed, Arthur-Nellie is a family business in Ohoka, North Canterbury, that produces unique, quality, crafted furniture. Pieces are either made from scratch or restored to the highest possible standard. Specialising in all areas of domestic and commercial upholstery, their showroom is filled with chairs, lounge suites, and more, designed by the team themselves.
“The showroom connects to the workshop so customers can see how things are going and our processes,” says Kent.
The team at Arthur-Nellie can advise on aspects such as seat height, foams and fillings, and fabrics, and design in all styles from retro to contemporary. Call into their showroom at 264a Jacksons Road, Ohoka, or call 03 312 0570.
