Goodbye, panda eyes
You don’t need waterproof or water-resistant mascara to avoid smudging anymore – tubing mascara technology wraps each individual lash with polymers instead of heavy pigmented paints. These ‘tubes’ slide off your lashes at the end of the day, with warm water and gentle pressure. “Tubing mascara is trending but mainly for its unbelievable practicality,” says award-winning Christchurch makeup artist Kasia Stanicich. “People have so long reached for waterproof and water-resistant formulas to avoid smudging, but tubing formulas give you even better wear time and are easy to remove.” Locked solid once dry, tubing mascara isn’t affected by sweat, oils or humidity. In the winter season, it holds strong against rainy weather, watery eyes and gusts of Christchurch’s southerly wind.
Hello luscious lips
Using a slightly deeper liner or soft shadow around the edge of your lips creates a fuller, more dimensional illusion. Lately, defined lips favour soft, blurred edges for that lived-in look. Matte or gloss, reach for maroon or berry tones in winter, and aim for the same undertone in your blush (but not an identical shade).
