The top of the South Island never fails to pull out all the stops as a prime destination, and in spring, the action steps up several notches. Start making plans now for Marlborough Anniversary Day on 2 November. Always held on the first Monday following Labour Day, on the weekend of 31 October to 2 November, expect fairs, cultural exhibits, and more.
Wander downtown historic Blenheim, exploring the beautiful, intricate ins and outs of Marlborough Sounds, or visit local vineyards where three-quarters of New Zealand’s wine is produced.
It’s also a great chance to get out and explore the region’s natural beauty. Take on the Queen Charlotte Walking Track for incredible scenic views of forests and sea coast or get a panoramic look off Pelorus Bridge over the protected Pelorus River.
That same weekend is when Kaikōura Trotting Club hosts one of the country’s most iconic racing events, the Kaikoura Cup Race Weekend on 1 and 2 November. It’s always popular so book now. Want to let your hair down?
