Slow down season

Summer is here and it is time to take a well-deserved break. After a challenging year for many, taking the time to recharge and switch off is on a lot of people’s minds.

Taking a mini-break close to home keeps things simple, and the much-loved Hanmer Springs region is always a good go-to.

Great all year round, but in summer has endless activities and sights to explore. Whether it is an extended family vacay, camping trip with friends, or romantic getaway, there is something for everyone in this quaint, friendly town.

Adventure is in every direction. Explore secluded mountain valleys on a quad bike tour, or soak up the scenery and get a workout in on a mountain bike.

An all-time favourite for locals and visitors, jet boating is the best way to get the adrenaline pumping as you speed through the spectacular Waiau River canyon. There is also white water rafting and of course the famous bungy jumping for ultimate adventure junkies.

For more leisurely activities, stroll through the quiet town center and browse the local shops, and find a special gift for a loved one (or yourself), or hire the famous four-seater pedal bikes to explore the streets.

There is mini-golf, plenty of nearby walks from peaceful strolls to challenging hikes, and delicious eateries to hop between as well.
