On the move: Alison Adams
Ōtautahi Christchurch is a city that will always feel like home.
Twenty-five years ago, I left the UK expecting to be away for a short time. Instead, Ōtautahi Christchurch became home. That’s one reason why deciding to leave has been so difficult.
The opportunity to join the University of Nottingham as Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Global and Regional Engagement is one that feels impossible to ignore. It brings together many of the things I care most about: international partnerships, economic development, education, and place. It also brings me closer to family and back to the region where I grew up.
Over the past few years, I’ve had a front-row seat to a city that has built confidence, ambition, and momentum. We’ve seen new investment, growing international recognition, major events return, thriving innovation, and a more diverse economy than at any point in our recent history.
I leave Christchurch with great confidence in the future of both the city and its economic development agency, ChristchurchNZ. The city is well positioned to continue building on the opportunities ahead.
It’s been a privilege to play a small part in the story, and I’ll be cheering Christchurch on from the other side of the world.
