Old style charm and barbering: Pride Barbers

We don’t hear as much as we should about pampering for men, but it’s deserved, it’s here, and it should be part of your routine. The traditional barber’s shop was always more than a stopover for a tidy-up. It was a centre of friendship and news, personal service and relaxation, and that’s exactly what you find at Pride Barbers.

Having moved location to Unit 5 at 1004 Ferry Road in Ferrymead opposite Countdown, Pride Barbers has been careful to take the stunning fitout with them. The traditional masculine feel includes classic chairs, herringbone wooden floors and cabinetry handmade by Director Annalese Thornley’s husband, and are complemented with gold trim and an elegant feel.

Gentlemen with a leisurely day planned can sip on a whisky during their visit.

Head Barber Ratu learnt his trade in Fiji from his grandfather, and takes the time to chat and get to know clients, creating a safe space where everyone can be themselves. But in fact, it’s not just ‘golden age’ barbering at Pride. The classic cuts and hot towel shaves are joined by skin fades and complete transformations, plus Annalese has created a fantastic children’s room, “we offer deals on children’s cuts, and they are welcome to wait for dad or grandad.”

Walk-ins are welcome or book online.
