Hot and Spicy in Methven: Nawab Eatery

Methven is certainly best known as being the gateway to the snow.

However, the town has grown, and in the last handful of years it has become an all-season destination with activities such as jet boating, hot air ballooning, scenic flights and mountain biking.

The latest addition to all the attractions is relaxing in the brand new solar-powered hot pools, the Ōpuke Thermal Pools and Spa.

Nothing completes an enjoyable day of activity better than sharing good food with friends. If you fancy something hot and spicy then find you way to Nawab Eatery, the only Indian restaurant in Methven. It’s well established in town and has become popular with locals and tourists alike for its wide variety of dishes and warm and inviting ambience. Here you definitely can dine in the style of a nawab – that’s Hindi for ruler or nobleman.

The chefs pride themselves on offering the best food from fresh ingredients. The Nawabi Platter of tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, garlic chicken, lamb chops and lamb seekh kebab are favourites among diners. So too are the Fish Amritsari and the Lamb Balti.

The restaurant at 121 Methven Highway is open for dine in and takeaway – lunch Wednesday – Sunday; dinner every evening. Call 03 302 9025.
