Home comforts
Ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, make your sleep mean more with lounge and sleepwear collections that support two of New Zealand’s research charities.
Something as fundamental for healthy living as sleep can now help such an important cause, with two local sleepwear collections raising money for breast cancer research. “Sleepwear is there in the quiet moments, the recovery moments, the morning moments and the end-of-day moments,” says Anna Johnson, CEO and co-owner of Bendon, on their collaboration with charity Breast Cancer Cure to fund life-saving research. Three coordinated sleepwear sets, three separates, a soft pink robe, heart and stripe pants all available in sizes XS to 2XL, and a pair of plush slippers, combine the comfort of life at home with purpose.
The charity’s CEO Sonja de Mari says the campaign has the power to start conversations that could ultimately save lives. “More than anything, I hope it sparks conversation. Someone receives a set as a gift, picks one up for herself, or spots it on a friend and asks about it, and suddenly breast cancer research is being talked about around kitchen tables across the country.”
The collection made its runway debut at New Zealand Fashion Week in August.
Then in September, New Zealand-owned lifestyle brand Wallace Cotton announced its collection in partnership with the Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand – turning beautiful, comfortable sleepwear into a meaningful way to give back.

Breast Cancer Cure teams up with Bendon to raise money for life-saving research.
Nicky Sinclair-Perkins, Head of Fundraising and Engagement at the Foundation, says a $10 donation from every purchase of the four-piece limited edition sleepwear collection will contribute to something much bigger.
Breast Cancer Foundation NZ works to reduce the impact of breast cancer in Aotearoa through education and awareness, support for people affected by breast cancer, research and medical programmes, and advocacy for better breast cancer care. As a charity that receives no government funding, it relies on the generosity of donors and partners to continue this work. “It might look like just a beautiful camisole or a pair of lounge pants on the surface. But every one of these products purchased will be adding up to something bigger. The chances for finding breast cancer earlier; the chance for treatment to be successful; and most importantly the chance to spend more time with the people who matter most.”
