Fashion that works: Sally Mac’s

Customer loyalty, friendly advice and enthusiastic staff have helped this ‘world-famous in Amberley’ institution of style thrive for the past 30 years.

“I started Sally Mac’s because I was frustrated with trying to find clothes,” says Sally MacDonald, owner of Sally Mac’s a women’s clothing store in Amberley.

“I felt that women over 45 were grossly under-catered for in the malls.”

Sally describes her store as “fashion that works”. “It can go to work with you, but it works with your lifestyle and with what else is in your wardrobe,” she says.

For Sally, fashion is about finding pieces that suit you and make you feel good.

Sally MacDonald is right on track.

She often asks customers to bring in some pieces they already own to find things that will match. “They’re looking for quality, but they’re not looking for top end fashion,” she says. Rather than advising customers to buy a whole new outfit, Sally works with what they already have. “They have to be good quality, they have to fit properly, and they have to do the job.”

The ‘fashion that works’ approach has built trust between Sally Mac’s and their customers, building loyalty that sees customers returning 30 years later.

Visit Sally Mac’s at 94 Carters Road, Amberley, open Monday to Saturday.
