Committed to Christchurch: Fleetwood Construction

While some Canterbury-based building companies have come and gone during these somewhat testing and turbulent times our region has been through, family business Fleetwood Construction remains committed to Christchurch, and to building beautiful architectural homes in our city.

Sam Fleetwood has over 27 years of building experience, so it should come as no surprise that Fleetwood Construction, which celebrates its 18th birthday this year, has garnered an impressive tally of awards in the prestigious Registered Master Builder House of the Year (HOTY) Awards for projects in Governors Bay, Strowan and Papanui.

But for Sam and his trusted team, the biggest accolade, to date, has been taking out four HOTY awards in 2020 for a build in Merivale.

The build won a Gold Award in its category, plus the Bathroom Excellence, the Kitchen Excellence and the Outdoor Living Excellence Awards for Canterbury.

Fleetwood Construction Director, Sam Fleetwood, worked with Darren O’Neil from O’Neil Architecture, and the clients throughout the design process, advising on how to best achieve their vision for the property.

“We have admired Darren’s work for many years,” says Sam. “Darren opted for a ‘less is more’ approach and a very clean colour palette, the result is a home that looks striking and simple but, in fact, hides its complexity, both of layout and build difficulty.”

Sam and the Fleetwood Construction team worked closely with the clients throughout the build to make sure every detail was just as they had imagined it to be.

“Everyone worked so passionately and efficiently on this build. We all thoroughly enjoyed watching the home take shape and seeing the end product with the client’s smiling from ear to ear on move in day.”

The resounding success of the Merivale build may signal the beginning of many more grand designs from this award-winning construction company. If so, Christchurch has much look to forward to.
