Child-friendly walking tracks in Ōamaru

With a week left of the Term 1 school holidays, here are some child-friendly walking tracks in Ōamaru that you can take your children or grandchildren on.

Here are three top-rated walks in Ōamaru that will only take an hour.

First up is the Swallow Circuit Track, a well-formed track located near the car park off Reid Rd.
This 2.6km round trip takes you on a scenic journey through native bush and has lots of steps, making it perfect for a quick and easy outdoor adventure.

If you have a bit more time, the Deep Stream Track is an excellent choice. This 2km track near Lake Aviemore takes you through a flooded canyon and ends at the river delta, where you can enjoy a shady picnic or fishing spot.
For those who love the ocean, the 4.2km All Day Bay Beach Walk is an excellent option.

You may even spot Hector’s Dolphins playing in the waves. Public toilets are available along the way, making it convenient for the whole family.

Make the walks even more fun by giving your children a jar to collect leaves and rocks, making up a simple nature bingo or letting them use a camera to capture some nature shots.

Get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and create some unforgettable memories on these beautiful tracks.
