An extraordinary race day: Addington Raceway
It’s a highlight of Christchurch – and New Zealand’s – annual sporting and social calendar, and 2020’s IRT New Zealand Trotting Cup Day is shaping up to be something very special. With many of the world’s events cancelled due to Covid-19, Addington Raceway is pulling out all the stops to ensure revellers have so much more than just a day at the races.
Spread across two distinct areas, the Lindauer Lawn and The Edge Public Village, 2020’s guests will not only enjoy the exhilaration of horse racing – but an exciting mix of new flourishes designed to surprise and delight even the most enthusiastic punters.
While Covid-19 restrictions means reduced capacity, it has also been extra motivation for organisers to ensure racegoers have an exceptional day out.
From bespoke cocktail bars, live music and DJs, to fabulous fashion, delicious cuisine offerings and even a rooftop party – this is no ordinary day at the races.
Packages begin with The Edge Public Village, where guests still have prime positions for watching the action, as well as cocktail bars, The Crossing Fashion Starts Here best dressed competition, the Speights Lawn and a courtyard of food truck dining options.
Those in the elevated Lindauer Lawn option can not only stylishly roam The Edge Public Village area, but also enjoy premier views of the raceway and winning post, plus touch up their hair and makeup throughout the day at the glamerous pamper bar.
Guests also have access to the Lindauer Rooftop where DJs the Sweet Mix Kids will keep the party going – and they will also be surprised with some special treats throughout the day.
