A creative collective: Salon Parlour
Walk into Salon Parlour on the corner of Westminster and Cranford Streets and it’s buzzing. It looks like any other high end salon; the hairdressers are busy and motivated and it is a vibrant and beautiful space.
However, there is a key difference; these stylists are working in their own businesses, mentored and assisted by Salon Parlour co-owners Susie Chisnall and Becs Taulango. The stylists rent a chair and are responsible for their own clients and for developing their own business, with the benefit of lots of support from Susie and Becs.
With 30 years of experience in the hair and beauty industry between them, this talented duo knows how best to help the contracting stylists. “It takes a fair bit of confidence to go out on your own,” Becs says. “And there is more to it than just being a good stylist. We help them with advice about business management and marketing, and eventually they are well-prepared to take that next step.”
Susie believes the support from the salon and the shared vision make for a co-operative and pleasant team environment where stylists benefit, not only from Becs’ and Susie’s support, but also from each other’s different experiences, and from the group of experts the salon can call on for specific training and advice should it be needed.
They have great brand support from their haircare partner MATRIX and are the first (and only) R.A.W Concept Salon in NZ.
Currently there are opportunities for two hairdressing professionals to join the team.
