This thing sucks really well

Bigger is better, right? When it comes to vacuum cleaners, the answer is yes, and no. Metropol’s gadget guru Ian Knott discovers the long, and the short of it.

Long recognised as the world’s formost innovators in vacuum technology, Dyson have added an upsized version to their popular cordless stick-vacuum range, without adding any cumbersome bulk and unecessary extra weight.
The Gen5outsize™ improves on its predecessors in almost every way, having had some of the already industry-leading features re-engineered.

Firstly, there are two very obvious differences – the cleaning head has been made 25% wider, and the dust bin 150% larger. Allowing for better floor coverage, the larger cleaning head also detangles itself of long hair, an absolute Godsend for families with moulting teenagers.

With up to 70 minutes of battery-life (depending on your choice of power setting), combined with the huge dust-bin, even the largest of houses are rendered spotless without constant emptying and long recharging times.
The powerful 250 air-watt motor along with the whole-machine HEPA filtration captures 99.99% of particles (even as minute as diesel soot).

One thing is certain, when it comes to vacuum cleaners, you tend to get what you pay for. With Dyson definitely being in the higher price bracket, you can be assured that you are buying a piece of equipment that is built to do the job, and do it well for years to come.
