From cricketing clashes to Cup Week capers, the energy is high and the buzz is real.

It’s safe to say spring is one of the best times to be in Christchurch.

The days are getting longer, the cherry blossoms and daffodils have blossomed, the city is looking fantastic, and there’s a real vibe on the street.

So it makes sense that it’s also one of the busiest times on our events calendar. This coming month in particular is a great example of just how much our city and region have to offer.

You can’t go past Cup and Show Week in the city. The races with top-class racing, fashion and entertainment and the Canterbury A&P Show where town meets country.

We’ve also got international cricket at Hagley Oval and football at One New Zealand Stadium for the sports fans in your world.

But the month really finishes on a high, with superstar Robbie Williams returning to Christchurch for the first time in 25 years to be the first international act to perform at the Stadium.

These big events bring thousands of people into our city, creating a great atmosphere and supporting the local hospitality, retail and accommodation businesses. Most importantly, they give us locals another reason to get out and enjoy Christchurch.

This spring, I encourage everyone to make the most of what’s happening. Get together with friends and family, head into the city and enjoy the buzz.
