Have a spring fling: The Ellesmere Spring Fling 2018

For lovers of beautiful gardens and anyone wanting a glorious day out in the fresh country air, The Ellesmere Spring Fling 2018 country fete on Sunday 7 October is a must.

The Ellesmere Spring Fling

Held at Broadfield Garden from 11am to 4pm, 250 Selwyn Road, which is only 10 minutes from Hornby, these award-winning landscape gardens span 10 acres. Owner David Hobbs will host guided tours around his impeccably tended spring wonderland on the day. Restful live music will waft through the trees and there will be artisan stalls, plant sales and great food and beverages. Horticulturalist Michael Coulter will be demonstrating some clever gardening ideas, including growing tomatoes in containers, welcoming any gardening problems or questions too.

This is the eighth year Community Care Lincoln has organised the event, to raise money for the health and wellbeing of residents in the Selwyn community. “We had around 800 here last year, and the day is run completely with voluntary help from the community and the Rotary Club of Lincoln,” says organiser Janice Burnett.  “Our principle sponsor is Intelligro at Weedons, for garden supplies and taking the guesswork out of gardening.”

Tickets are $15 per adult on Eventfinda, Lincoln New World, Community Care Lincoln, Paper Plus Hornby and Ballantynes. On the day gate sales will be available for $20 per adult and school-aged children are free. Follow the Ballantynes Facebook page for a ticket giveaway competition which goes live 1 October.
