For the gardeners, florists, & opera enthusiasts
Gather your fellow floral enthusiasts for an evening of flowers and art. Join multi-award-winning songstress, Ali Harper, and celebrated florist, Yvette Edwards, alongside many other talented performers and flower growers for Bubbles & Blooms 2026.
“There’s something magical about music and flowers together,” says entertainer Ali Harper. “They lift people’s spirits and bring a real sense of joy.”
Bubbles & Blooms on Saturday 2 May at Ilex Event Centre offers an evening of opera, storytelling, design, and seasonal blooms for green thumb to enjoy. Ali will perform a joyful tribute to the gifted Christchurch florist, Margaret Watling, while operatic talents, Leisa Falconer and Donna Alley, showcase their skills. All this paired with a live floral demonstration by Yvette Edwards featuring blooms from the Canterbury Horticultural Society Chrysanthemum Group.
“Bubbles & Blooms is not just a celebration of flowers, but a chance to give back,” Leisa says. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the CHS Orchards in Schools programme. This helps children connect with nature and learn about gardening, while growing fresh fruit in their schools. The programme is in its tenth year, and young people from 47 schools across Christchurch participate.

Eventgoers will be greeted with a complimentary glass of bubbles, canapés, and cake, as well as an exclusive gift bag, and one lucky attendee will take home Yvette’s finished arrangement. “I hope my floral demonstration inspires people to bring a little beauty and creativity into their own homes, and to experience the joy that flowers can bring to everyday life,” says Yvette.
