Entertaining architecture: Dalman Architects

Designing a multi-level entertainment centre necessitated an expert hand (or two) to ensure that the end result would “unleash the inner kid” in couples, groups and families.

Christchurch’s unique EntX complex (pictured), home to Archie Brothers, and Holey Moley, does exactly that.

Intimately involved with the design was multi-award-winning Dalman Architects.

Known for its innovative commercial, public and residential design, the company specialises in creative solutions.

Principal Richard Dalman believes that people are shaped by the spaces they inhabit, hence this is reflected in the company’s designs.

“We view architecture and interior design as a responsibility to create enriching spaces. A considered space, inside or out, evokes positive human emotion.

“With 20 years behind us our focus is firmly fixed on the client,” says Richard. “Through innovative thinking, a responsive process, and exceptional standards, our aim is to always enrich the way people live, work, and play.”

Play is the operative word at EntX, which includes arcade and virtual reality games, crazy golf courses, karaoke, eight bowling lanes, plus Hoyts cinemas, bars, and restaurants, making it an entertainment heaven.
