Editor’s Note: Event central

This issue our focus is on the multitude of amazing venues, in and around Christchurch, at which to hold conferences and events.

Within the central city there are numerous options, catering for small work groups, large international delegations, and everything in between. Let’s not forget the city’s outer suburbs either. They also have plenty of customised spaces, whether it’s a national or international conference, a work planning meeting, a gathering
of like-minded people, or a celebratory event. One of the exciting aspects that has come, with the rebuild and expansion of Christchurch in recent years, has been the opportunities available to shape the city.

From its centre, to its suburbs and satellite towns, a consistent mindset has been to attract visitors, tourists, functions, and events back to the region, and it appears to be working well.

Having a steady influx of outsiders come to enjoy what Christchurch and its wider environs offers is a no-brainer for boosting the local economy. From accommodation to wining and dining, shopping to conferencing, it all means dollars for local businesses.

Some years ago there was a slogan advising Kiwis not to leave New Zealand until they’d seen the country. I’ll update that now by saying don’t plan events outside Canterbury, until you have sussed out what our locals can offer.

Speaking of offering, this issue brings you a load of great reading, in addition to excellent suggestions about what some of our top boutiques, beauty salons, and businesses have available.

Kick back with a coffee, cocktail, or Champagne, and enjoy the read.
