Celeb – pet craze

Celebrity pets have become increasingly popular in recent years, with many of them even gaining their own devoted fan followings.

From exotic animals such as Tippi Hedren’s lion which lived in her house, to Elvis Presley and his chimp Scatter, and Mike Tyson and his white tiger, celebrity pets often cause a buzz and capture the hearts of the public.

What is it about these adorable creatures that captivates us so much? It turns out that the “baby schema” theory, developed by many studies worldwide, might be at play. Baby schema, also known as the “cuteness factor”, is a set of physical characteristics that trigger an innate response in humans, making us want to care for and protect cute creatures.

These characteristics include a round face, big eyes, and a small nose and mouth. When we see a cute pet, our brains release feel-good chemicals such as oxytocin and dopamine, creating an emotional response that makes us feel happy and content.

No wonder pet content has become such a popular form of entertainment, especially when it involves our favourite celebrities.

In recent times, pets including Taylor Swift’s cat, Olivia Benson, have gained fame with their own Instagram accounts and video appearances. These pets have become cherished icons and their cute and endearing personalities have captured the hearts of millions of fans around the world.
