A warm winter work-out: Soul Studio Hot Yoga

Not everyone fancies the idea of a fitness regime that requires jogging through Hagley Park or stripping down to a bathing suit and doing 50 lengths of a congested pool on a cold, wintry day.

But many would love the idea of a quiet, inviting and welcoming space in which the body can gradually be relaxed and worked out in a heated room.

Soul Studio Hot Yoga is a beautiful space to escape the grey gloom. Its cavernous nurturing yoga room has a gentle, cocooning ambience. The classes are designed specifically for winter practice so clients gain all the benefits of a hot yoga workout.

Hot yoga raises the heart rate and core temperature, which dilates blood vessels and increases circulation in muscles, and because muscles are typically stiffer in cold weather, that’s a big benefit.

“We provide a free herbal tea, free use of our mats and a wide range of heated yoga modalities. That’s why people love coming here – coming in out of the cold,” owner Sarah O’Connell says.

Exclusive use of the studio for groups and private yoga, as well as drop-in classes are also available.

The cost-effective Specials Winter Seasonal pass provides three months of unlimited yoga. For more information, visit the website.
