The next Run Akaroa, scheduled for Sunday 16 May 2027, delivers one of the country’s most breathtaking courses; each step tracing the rim of an ancient volcano.
Let the scenery and fresh ocean air carry you through the kilometres, whether you take on the 10km distance, the 21km race, or the full marathon. Race around the rim or walk and talk with friends – this event is built for everyone, from first-timers chasing a big milestone to elite athletes chasing speed. The morning after, grab yourself a warm pastry and piping hot coffee on a stroll along the seaside before you wander the streets, browse the shops, or encounter the wildlife. RUNNING, ELEVATED
Start at 450 metres above sea level and choose the marathon (42.2km), half marathon (21km) or 10km distance, with the Black Cat Cruises Kids Dash making it an opportune family affair. Each course is crafted for maximum wow-factor and carefully curated traffic management plans so you can take in the 360-degree views safely.
The race is on Summit Road above the Akaroa harbour, winding around the ancient volcano, before Akaroa village comes into view at the crater rim – a motivating ‘marker’ to push through the last few kilometres.
