Destination Kaikōura
The excitement of Marlborough Anniversary Weekend from 31 October to 2 November is your calling for three days of fun, fresh air and delicious food in Kaikōura.

DAY 1: Start your weekend off with the right energy and see Kaikōura as you have never experienced before on a 3.5 hour EcoZip adventure. A unique 4X4 Unimog drives you across a 3000-acre working farm with exhilarating ziplines above native forest canopies offering incredible 360-degree views to Kaikōura and beyond. Finish with an early dinner at a local restaurant, before an evening stroll along the waterfront listening to the waves crash in.

DAY 2: One of New Zealand’s most iconic racing events, the Kaikōura Trotting Club is a can’t-miss event during Marlborough Anniversary Weekend on 1 and 2 November. Head out for a hearty brunch, arriving before the first race around midday.
Enjoy exhilarating racing and an array of food and drink choices with a beautiful ocean backdrop.
Tip: If the races are your main attraction, the Whale Train gets you from Christchurch or Rangiora to the races return, while you take in the scenery and make your selections for race day.

DAY 3: Following an action-packed day at the races, opt for a slow morning in your beachfront accommodation. Continue the relaxed pace by visiting the multi-award winning Kaikōura Museum. The distinctive geography of the ocean bed along its coastline means Kaikōura is one of the most consistent and enticing surf regions in New Zealand, and its rich history is worth learning.
