Legal ally on immigration – Vanessa Cha at Pier Law
Immigrating to New Zealand can be an overwhelming, complex and costly experience, but a local lawyer is on hand to help.
Pier Law is delighted to introduce associate Vanessa Cha, who has come on board to lead the immigration team.
The firm supports clients in Christchurch and across the country, as well as people from overseas who dream of making a life in New Zealand, says director and CEO Greer Herbison.
“Having immigrated to New Zealand herself, Vanessa understands just how stressful and uncertain the process can be and brings both empathy and insight to supporting clients through it,” says Greer.
“Vanessa was drawn to immigration law through her genuine love of working with people and her desire to help others.”

With three suburban locations in Northwood, New Brighton, and Kaiapoi, the Pier Law immigration team works across a spectrum of immigration issues.
“We assist with everything from visitor, work and residency visas to urgent, last minute situations where visas have expired or time is critical. We also help families reunite, support complex cases, and represent clients in appeals,” she says.
“Vanessa’s experience and people-centred approach strengthen our capability across all areas of immigration. Her leadership marks an exciting step forward for the team as we continue to grow and support our clients with confidence and care.”
The firm also works alongside businesses to help them achieve accreditation and ensure they remain compliant in their hiring processes. “No two cases are the same, and we pride ourselves on navigating challenges of all kinds.”
