Hemp for good health: Sativa Botanicals

Sisters Kelly Edwards and Paula Fore (pictured) established their business in 2020 with a clear goal: to develop and provide premium hemp products, and to match that with outstanding service.

With values of compassion at the foundation, the pair knew they could join the industry with their high standards and fresh approach, and make a difference. Sativa Botanicals was launched, boasting New Zealand’s largest range of locally-grown, hemp-derived, 100% natural health, wellness, and skincare products.

Hemp, the name given to cannabis plants that produce little of the psychoactive compound tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), offers a rich profile of nutrients, omegas, vitamins, and minerals.

“The hemp plant is still widely misunderstood, especially for its medicinal and therapeutic benefits. Education is key,” Kelly and Paula say. Consuming hemp hearts (hulled hemp seeds) and hemp seed oil is beneficial, supporting digestion, heart health, immunity, and brain health, while naturally balancing hormones and skin disorders. Rich in fatty acids, decreasing pain, and improving joint movement, the sisters say more and more people consume the superfood daily.

It all started with a humble desire to help family members living with arthritis and external skin conditions. “Our first two products were formulated with pain and skin irritation relief in mind,” they explain. “The results were astounding, and these two remain our top purchased products.” Kelly and Paula focus on a kanohi te kanohi (face-to-face) presence, cherishing the stories they hear and customers they meet.

Find the Sativa Botanicals sisters at selected markets, annual festivals, expos, and trade fairs, and stay up-to-date with their whereabouts through their Facebook page.
