Destination Ōamaru

Slow down, soothe your senses, and reset amidst the coastal charm of Ōamaru.

Nature, wildlife, and time spent with your family. Ōamaru packages that up in the ideal getaway. Picture slow, relaxing mornings spent beachside with a coffee in one hand, and your partner’s hand in the other, before fuelling up at a delicious café. Then, it’s a busy yet chilled-out day of browsing and exploring before a classic pub meal and a comforting night in your accommodation.

Walk iconic cobblestone streets, shop eccentric boutiques, immerse yourself in the steampunk experience, and breathe in fresh ocean air. Beautiful streetscapes tell a story of rich history. From 1853, when gold was discovered along the Waitaki River, to the gorgeous town that has come to be, find yourself cherishing the iconic Victorian architecture and preservation just as much as the locals.

A tourist destination, yet without the tourist crowds, Ōamaru has held on to its friendly, distinctive ambience. Unwind and decompress in this southbound slice of heaven, where a focus on nurturing wildlife and the local economy creates an uplifting environment for all.
