A garden oasis: Willow Springs

A gorgeous new garden is taking centre stage for tours and events.

Not only does this multi-faceted garden have a variety of stunning garden rooms to explore, it also has an enchanting back story.

The garden, designed and created by Chris Boon (Owner), largely with plants rescued from Christchurch’s Red Zone. Willow Springs is a unique seven-acre private garden framed by a stream and sprinkled with natural ponds. Located in Marshland, it is just minutes from the CBD. “The fact that we are formed with rescued Red Zone plants particularly speaks to Cantabrians,” says co-owner Andrea Phillips, “it makes the events we host here even more special.” Open weekends from the end of September through to March, you can also visit by appointment.

“We offer garden tours and lunches to groups, high teas, and picnics, and weddings for up to 50 people,” says Andrea.

Catering for events is supplied by café Paris for the Weekend, and the range of gorgeous spots in the garden makes it difficult to choose a favourite. “We have stream side ferns gardens, rustic spaces, or you can go more formal with our pagoda in the rose garden,” says Andrea.

The colours are wonderful and constantly change with the season.
“We love creating memories and connections for everyone who spends time here.”
