Sam Stakenburg, owner of The Sugar Room, applies her incredible skills to make Canterbury weddings sweeter, and less stressful.

“The best tool I have for weddings is my eye for detail”, she says. With 46 weddings booked into her calendar this season, Sam’s talent is quickly spreading through the mouths of Canterbury. The mum of three loved baking since she was a child, and never stopped tinkering in the kitchen even after having her own. An experienced baker, Sam now works a hectic lifestyle running her business. “There are some very early mornings and some very late nights, but it’s all worth it and I love every second,” she reveals.

Alongside the perfect wedding cake, Sam bakes birthday cakes for all ages and of all designs, cupcakes, cookies, the lot. Her favourite part is bringing happiness to others through her baking. “I love every single cake that leaves my kitchen.”
