Setting new goals: Te Pae Christchurch

Like many businesses at the start of a new year, we’ve been busy looking at the year ahead, and formulating plans that will carry us into 2024 and beyond.

An area that remains important to us as we embark on our journey is sustainability, which is why last month we committed to net carbonzero operations by the end of 2024 – a commitment we believe is a clear indication of our desire to lead by example and create meaningful change.
With the Centre yet to complete its first year of operations, our focus is currently on benchmarking, but once we know where we are at, and where we need to head, we will turn our focus towards reducing our environmental footprint.

The goal is then to work with clients and suppliers and look at ways to minimise the impact of the events we host – something we are well supported in with Ōtautahi Christchurch’s own commitment to reaching net zero emissions.

We are embarking on this journey with the assistance of Toitū Envirocare who are a long-standing partner of ours.

They have been an invaluable part of our journey to date, and the guidance and support they have provided us since 2020 has set us up well to take this next step. The fact their programmes take a science-based approach also gives us the confidence to aim high and set big goals in this area.

After all we live in one of the best places in the world, and it’s up to us to keep it that way for generations to come.
