Toasty treats: Red Post Cafe

It’s amazing how people are drawn towards the flames of an open fire.

And when there is mulled wine to sip while enjoying the fire’s ambiance and warmth, it really doesn’t get much better. This is all on offer in the picturesque restored villa in Culverden that houses Red Post Cafe. The Prenzel mulled wine comes as either alcoholic or non-alcoholic, so drivers don’t have to miss out on the special winter experience and atmosphere.

Winter brings other “warmers” to the cafe’s menu with delicious homemade cottage pie and sausage rolls and a range of delicious soups such as seafood chowder, pumpkin soup, curried kumara soup or leek and potato soup.

It’s the variety of its dishes and baked goods that are the hallmark of this popular cafe and why it is such an inviting place to stop at for breakfast or lunch or a snack and great coffee. Every dietary requirement is catered for – vegetarian, vegan, gluten or dairy free and Keto. Customers often exclaim about the astonishing range of choices in the cabinets. Owners Trent and Carolyn Allison say that everything is made with love and a genuine desire for there to be an option for everyone.

Red Post Cafe is open seven days – Monday – Thursday, 8am – 4.30pm; Friday, Saturday and Sunday 8am – 5pm.
