150 Reasons to visit Hurunui
The month, Visit Hurunui will unveil its list of the top 150 reasons to visit the region, after calling on local tourism operators, residents and visitors to share their favourite reasons.
Group marketing manager Shane Adcock says Hurunui is a region loved by all those who visit on various holidays and those who live in the region – and it was these reasons that prompted it to collect the top 150 destinations and/or experiences.
“The best winery, hill walk, cafe, or even your favourite dairy because they have generous $1 mixtures. Maybe the greatest pie, mountain bike track or river swim because of the vista.
“We wanted people’s special reasons behind visiting – not the “tick the box” reasons,” he explains.
Submissions were made online at visithurunui.co.nz, and shared on Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #150ReasonsHurunui.
Hurunui ambassador and Olympic mountain biker Anton Cooper says his reason to visit is the network of world-class mountain bike tracks located in the
Hanmer Forest. Anton features in the launch video, alongside broadcaster Chris Lynch and New Zealand netballer, Jane Watson. Shane says there will be a grand unveiling of the list in May.
“We have a really exciting year ahead of us and a very big anniversary is looming for Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa,” he adds. “We want to have some fun and celebrate our region for all that makes it great. There might be a few surprises in the mix at the end of this process but that’s even better.”
