Welcome to a new era in wool
The New Zealand Merino Company has rebranded as Zentera, signalling a strategic evolution while maintaining its focus on premium, traceable wool and regenerative practices.
The New Zealand Merino Company has rebranded as Zentera Wool Company, a move its leadership says reflects a natural evolution rather than a shift in direction. Chief executive Angus Street described the change as a way of “tidying up” and better aligning the business with what it already delivers across the global wool market.
The new name, Zentera, is intended to convey harmony with the land, highlighting the relationship between growers, animals and the environments that produce fine wool. The Christchurch-based company said the rebrand acknowledges both its heritage and the changing dynamics of international demand.
Despite the new identity, the company’s core operations remain unchanged. Zentera continues to oversee the ZQ and ZQ+ certification programmes, which set standards for animal welfare, environmental care and fibre traceability.
Founded more than 30 years ago, the business works with growers across the Southern Hemisphere and supplies wool to global brands. It said the updated branding better positions it to support regenerative farming practices and strengthen partnerships throughout the supply chain.
The rebrand comes as demand grows for natural fibres with verified sustainability credentials.
