Treat me!
You’ve probably heard of the foliage wreath, the meringue wreath, and maybe even the antipasto wreath, but have you discovered the treat wreath?
The treat wreath is perfect for all things Christmas, whether you need to bring a plate for a shared lunch, use it as a feature dessert, or wrap it in cellophane as a personalised gift. What’s even better is that you get to choose how much time and money you want to invest. You could handmake your own sweet treats, purchase from the store, or simply use what’s already in your pantry. Fruit, nuts, chocolate, baking, candy – the possibilities are endless.
MAKES ONE PLATE
INGREDIENTS
- 2 marshmallow biscuits (or any chocolate-covered biscuit), drizzled with icing and sprinkles
- 3 macarons, flavour of your choice, or a mix
- 4 coconut bliss balls
- 4 Reese’s Pieces (cut in half if you like)
- 3 Ferrero Rochers
- 20 assorted chocolate-dipped macadamias
- 1 Mars Bar (broken into chunks)
- 4 white chocolate-covered biscuits (or cover your own)
- 2 Tbsp desiccated coconut, to garnish
METHOD
- Begin by placing the largest treats evenly around the edge of the plate (these include the Reese’s Pieces and the chocolate-covered biscuits).
- Next, assemble the medium-sized treats like the macarons and marshmallow biscuits – try to make some overlap with larger treats, while also evenly spacing them.
- Place the coconut bliss balls, Ferrero Rochers, Mars Bar chunks, and chocolate-dipped macadamia nuts on top and in between the other treats, keeping an empty circle shape in the centre of the plate.
- Lastly, sprinkle desiccated coconut over your sweet creation.
GIFTING MADE EASY
Stuck for gift ideas for that special colleague, friend, or family member? Simple. Buy a cute plate you know they’ll love and build a treat wreath on top. Wrap the entire plate in a large sheet of cellophane, enough to bunch it together and tie a bow around the top. Add a personalised note, and voila.
