Torque talk: Here’s a thought

When was the last time you had your car serviced?

Keeping your car healthy by way of regular servicing will not only ensure those mechanical gremlins are kept well and truly at bay, but the life of your vehicle will extend considerably.

Let’s be honest, there are plenty of us out there who will only fork out dough to maintain their car if it means it failed its WOF. Though the thought of spending often hundreds of dollars on your car’s servicing and other preventative maintenance may fill a number of us with dread, it really is part and parcel of the car ownership experience.

Take your car’s CV joints. If your mechanic says your CV boots are getting worn and need replacing, do it. Otherwise, road muck will continue to get into those worn boots and damage the joints themselves, resulting in that horrible knocking noise every time you turn, and a bigger bill for parts and labour when putting it right.

There is an old saying, “nice things cost money.” Well, I would describe a car as a nice thing, something which needs to be kept in prime condition to squeeze every ounce of enjoyment from. That starts by keeping it regularly serviced and maintained to the highest possible standard.
