Time for a gin: The Botanist
The Botanist gin supports community gardens in partnership with local bars to drive awareness of the importance of locally grown, sustainability produced food.
The Botanist, an artisanal gin from Islay in Scotland, has a deep connection to the terroir.
Twenty-two foraged botanicals are hand-picked locally and sustainably across an entire growing season. They are then carefully dried and slow simmer distilled with pure Islay spring water in a unique Lomond Still, affectionately nicknamed Ugly Betty.
The result is a smooth yet complex gin that speaks of Islay. Sustainability has been a vital part of The Botanists journey and why they have a long-term vision to continue to be more sustainable in everything they do. Becoming B Corp certified was a huge achievement that helped solidify the commitment towards a more sustainable future.
To raise awareness of sustainable growing practices this October, The Botanist is supporting Community Gardens in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch to help them champion regenerative local food in their communities. Here in Otautahi, they’ll be supporting Roimata Food Commons.
Roimata Food Commons, located in Radley Park, Woolston and serving the wider community, is led by a charitable trust to empower the community to co-create the space to promote organic self-grown produce using permaculture principles that integrates regeneration and supports native biodiversity.
They’ve partnered with local bars here to raise funds for the Roimata Food Commons. Head along to your local bar and for every Botanist Gin drink sold, $5.00 will be donated to Roimata Food Commons.
A great opportunity to catch up with friends at your local bar, enjoy a delicious Gin & Tonic or Negroni and know that you’re not only supporting your local community garden, but the local hospitality too.
Visit the website below to find participating bars. The Botanist Gin is available at all good liquor stores. RRP 700ml $99.
