TIDA Awards 2022

The Trends International Design Awards were announced recently, showcasing some of the best builds in New Zealand.

Chairman of the TIDA judging panel, Paul Taylor says this year saw an easing of supply and construction difficulties, resulting in large numbers of entries.

“One of the key aspects of good design is how it takes the challenges that each project presents and works through solutions that seemingly turn a negative into a positive,” he says.

“On one level, this may mean working within a restrictive budget. Or the site itself may have challenging aspects– such as a steep slope or awkward orientation or difficult dimensions.

“Or there’s pressure to develop a home that fulfills the owners’ space requirements in a cohesive way that complements the home’s architecture – whether the project is a new build or a renovation.

“Our TIDA Homes entries come from architects and designers who have had to address some, or all, of these factors, resulting in a collection of very impressive homes from all around the country,” he adds.
