The power of water
Drinking enough water every day is essential for good health.
It helps prevent dehydration, which in turn causes unclear thinking, mood change, body overheating, and can lead to constipation and kidney stones.
If you don’t like plain water, try unsweetened flavoured waters, bottled sparkling water, or add a slice of lemon, lime, or cucumber.
For good health, experts recommend approximately two litres of water daily.
Be careful, however. Too much water can lead to an electrolyte imbalance, which can cause dizziness and nausea. Chat with your doctor to see how much to drink daily.
Here are some benefits:
Relieves fatigue – Opt for a glass of water if you feel tired or sluggish. Drinking water can help the body function better.
Improves mood – Lessen mood swings by increasing your water intake. Urine is a key indicator: the lighter the colour, the better the hydration.
Helps with headaches & migraines – Both of these can be triggered by dehydration. Consuming plenty of water has been found to provide relief from and help reduce the intensity and length of headaches.
Aids in digestion & constipation – Water, especially warm water, is good for digestive health. Drinking it assists with improving the function of your gastrointestinal tract by helping break down food properly, and by promoting regular bowel movements.
