Templeton’s terrific tavern: The Golden Mile
Owning and operating a hospitality business for more than 20 years is an achievement in longevity to be exceptionally proud of.
Murray Hollamby has reached that milestone by having a great relationship with the Templeton locals who come to his Golden Mile Tavern and with the many regular guests who stay in the comfortable motel units.
So popular is the motel that guests may stay weekly (usually for work), monthly or annually. Groups often book in each year for local events such as Cup and Show Week or for sports competitions. All 14 units are fully self-contained and range in configuration from double or twin to triple rooms. The convenience of the location is another drawcard. The motels are away from the bustle of the city, but are still very close to many wedding venues, to the Riccarton and Addington raceways, to sports venues, and to the Christchurch Airport.
No hospitality facility earns a good reputation without quality food and drink. The Tavern at the Golden Mile is a great place to socialise, to watch live sport on the huge screen and to enjoy a bite to eat in the restaurant. It’s open seven days a week for lunch and dinner and serves its famous roast meal every Sunday.
The Golden Mile also hires out the restaurant as an ideal venue for any party, event or family function.
