Estate of mind: Amuri Estate


Canterbury is an amazing place, in that all it takes is a short drive in any direction and you end up in some of the most beautiful places. Amuri Estate in Hanmer Springs is one of those places.

 

The beautiful retreat is just under two hours away from the Christchurch city centre but at the same time feels like a whole world away.

The venue caters for a variety of events which run alongside its luxury lodge accommodation.

Metropol caught up with Vanessa Orr to find out upcoming events that are likely to draw you out to the high country.

Christmas Dinner
Amuri invites you to a night of good food, music and even a prize for the best Christmas joke (all Dad jokes welcome).
The event takes place December 11 – and there’s a ticket with your name on it at the Amuri Estate website, or via phone booking.

Honour Festival
Haven’t got your ticket yet? Relax! No seriously, relax. This inaugural yoga event is taking place on February 27 and promises a day of yoga, speakers, music, artisan demonstrations and vendors. If there’s ever been time to get zen, it’s now!

Setting the scene: Amuri Estate


If wowing the crowd is on the conference and events cards for you, then Amuri Estate in the Hanmer countryside can help you do it.

Just 10 minutes out of the village and 90-minutes from Christchurch, Amuri Estate’s supreme views set the scene for perfection, while the luscious variety of spaces ensures events of all shapes, sizes and styles can be catered for.

The new modern barn style building has a large reception hall with capacity for 200 and a small meeting room with capacity for 20 to 60, including bathroom, kitchen and bar facilities, and breakout spaces.

On-site accommodation includes a lodge sleeping six within three king rooms with ensuites, and a kitchen-living area, while the Wallace Peak Cottage sleeps two in a king room and has a kitchen-living area and log fire.

When it comes to catering, Amuri works with three catering companies, ensuring you can get the cuisine and drinks of your choice in buffet, plated and shared styles from the fully-equipped kitchen and bar.

Amuri Estate has a hire catalogue and equipment packages available including AV, styling, table settings and more – which make organising your event a breeze.

A qualified event manager, Vanessa Orr is on hand to help co-ordinate as little or as much as required; organising meetings, the run sheet, and event plan, and liaising with the entertainment, photographer and caterer – if you so wish.

An unforgettable setting: Amuri Estate


A beautiful wedding could not be simpler at Amuri Estate, Hanmer where the supreme views take the effort out of creating an unforgettable setting. The venue seats up to 200 guests and there is a luscious variety of spaces on the property.

The ceremony lawn looks across the valley to the mountains: lawn seating, or grandstand-style seating rising up the bank are options.

The paved canapé and drinks terrace is large enough for dining, and inside options include the large reception hall and the drawing room.

“It’s ideal for an intimate winter reception,” Manager and Wedding Planner Vanessa Orr says.

Working with three catering companies, Amuri Estate can offer you the cuisine and drinks of your choice in buffet, plated, and shared styles from the fully-equipped kitchen and bar.

Accommodation is available on site, with a lodge sleeping six within three king rooms with ensuite, and a kitchen/living area.

The Wallace Peak Cottage sleeps two in a king room and has kitchen, living and log fire.

A qualified Event Manager, Vanessa is your wedding co-ordinator on the day, or throughout the planning process, if you wish. Organising meetings, the run sheet, event plan, rehearsal, Vanessa liaises with the M.C., photographer and caterer on the day.

Table settings are available to hire, make your own selection or simply leave it all to Vanessa on the day if you prefer.
