Supreme race day experience

Described as the Oscars of harness racing, the IRT Harness Jewels will be hosted in Christchurch for the very first time, on Saturday 1 June 2019 from 11:30am.

With the best aged group pacers and trotters competing for over $1.275 million in stakes, the IRT Harness Jewels is the richest harness race day in New Zealand, says Brian Thompson, CEO of Addington Raceway & Events Centre. “With Cup Week eight months away, it’s exciting to have been given the opportunity to host this prestigious day mid-year at Addington. Everyone is welcome as it is an exciting chance to get dressed up to the nines and celebrate the thrill and glamour of this exclusive event.”

The IRT Harness Jewels is without doubt the Premier Championship Harness Racing event of the year, where the season’s crème de la crème of horses, drivers, trainers, breeders and owners compete, by invitation only, for the coveted Harness Jewels Crowns in nine Group One Races.

For a supreme Race Day experience there are three delectable hospitality packages to choose from. All packages include mouth-watering cuisine, with some packages including Lanson Champagne. General Admission entry will be by gold coin donation to assist with raising money for our chosen charity St John, as we wish to acknowledge and thank them for the incredible job they did on the 15 March.
