State-of-the-art club: Hornby Club
Members only clubs are enjoying a renaissance in Christchurch.
With a contemporary new facility, including an events centre, family-style restaurant, café and sports bar, one club that has attracted hundreds of new members in recent months is the Hornby Club. Officially opened in December, the architecturally designed facility has obviously hit the right mark with Cantabrians. Tim Mathews, General Manager of Hornby Club, says the six year, multi-million redevelopment had taken time and substantial investment, yet the resultant special venue made it worth such a dedicated and prolonged effort.
“We wanted to create a beautiful, clean, modern space that specialises in bistro-style dining, while also offering members the perfect place to pop in for a quiet drink or to watch the game on our 5×7 metre big screen.
“The members wanted the Hornby Club to be a place for families, so we included an indoor and outdoor playground to keep the kids entertained.
“On top of this, we have provided the community with an events space to host conferences, weddings, celebrations, kid’s parties, sporting tournaments and more.
“We are really proud of what we have created, and look forward to welcoming more members to the Hornby Club,” says Tim.
