Serve it up: Serve Ping Pong Club
Every new bar tries to dream up an angle to fill a perceived gap in the market, and so we have speakeasies, bistros, exotic, traditional pubs, live music bars. The list goes on, they are not really exceptional.
Enter Serve Ping Pong Club. Newly opened as part of Codebreakers Escape Rooms, the bar is a brand-new, blow-your-mind, concept to New Zealand. Along with bar and food service, the vibe is smart scoring ping pong tables with great music and atmospheric lighting.
The idea is to book a ping pong table with a minimum of four people. Ping Pong gurus teach you how to play, and there are 100s of balls in the basket and a device to collect them, which keeps things really moving along.
“We have arcade signage to tell you who is playing next, and once you get to your finals there is a full commentary and a sound and light show,” says owner Logan McMillan, “the vibe is amazing, often the whole bar will pause to watch a final.”
Being fully licensed, the venue is R18, “we are popular with every age range,” says Logan. Open Friday and Saturday from 3pm – 10pm, you can book the entire bar outside of these times too.
